As more and more individuals are hearing about our services and learning of all the programs that Friends in Action has available, our need for volunteers continues to grow!
We are currently looking for volunteers to work at our registration desk at the Senior Center. This would be just a couple of hours in the morning, one or two days a week. Duties would include signing in visitors, completing new visitor registration forms, directing visitors to appropriate locations and offering a helping hand!
We are also in need of volunteer drivers!!
If you are interested in becoming a volunteer, please call the office today!! 664-6016.
Thank you! |

Friends in Action offers volunteer services to seniors and disabled adults throughout Hancock County. Our mission is to offer free services to elderly and disabled residents of Hancock County, so that they can live independently, with dignity and a strong quality of life. Services include transportation, friendly visits, help with chores and telephone reassurance.
Volunteering can fit into any lifestyle, whether retired, working full-time, young or old. Some volunteers give rides as part of their commute to work, or help with errands when they are doing their own. We need volunteers throughout the area. At the moment, we have particular need for volunteers in Ellsworth, Trenton, Hancock, Sullivan and Gouldsboro.
Friends in Action offers friendly visits to the lonely and shut-in; visitors stop by once a week for an hour or telephone to check on well-being. This volunteering requires an on-going commitment to an individual. For specific dates and times, please call 664-6016 or email

Friends in Action is a network of volunteers throughout the area who are matched with people who need help.
We ask that our volunteers attend a basic orientation and fill out a registration form. Orientations may be arranged with the Volunteer Coordinator at any time. Basic orientation takes about one hour.
VOLUNTEER SERVICES
All of Friends in Action’s services are delivered by volunteers and are free of charge. Donations are always needed and appreciated and may be sent directly to Friends in Action, but they are not required to receive services.
Friends in Action volunteers are kind and caring people from all walks of life and are all ages. They help with rides on their way to work, or they may be retired. They are in high school and help with yard work or chores or at the Senior Center. They are shut-in and disabled themselves and may telephone a lonely shut-in to check on their well-being or to have a chat.
Volunteer services are set up on an individual basis and are as varied as the people whom we serve. Volunteers are good neighbors, helping their neighbors. |
